A Conversation with Briana of The Ragdoll Princess

This week we're leaping into the world of The Ragdoll Princess.  Briana makes gorgeous tutus finished with special touches for babies and young children.  These, coupled with her hair accessory range make for fabulous special occasion wear, parties, photo ops, but why not also for everyday make-believe and fun?  Read on to learn more about the person behind the name :) ...

Who is The Ragdoll Princess?

Briana (super pink) Baker

What’s your “handmade groove ?”

Fancy tutus, pretty bows, clips and headbands and anything very girlie!

What’s on your bedside table right now? (hey, no tidying up or censoring)

A tissue box, a phone charger, a half-read book, paper and several pens.

Who are your creative role models? What music, books, images, poetry spark your creative fire?

Finally being able to indulge in my love of all things pink and girlie when we had a wee princess after being knee deep in mud and diggers with my 2 gorgeous boys really set things in motion. And now seeing gorgeous ribbon prints and fabulous fabric sparks my creativity.

What could you talk late into the night about with like minded people?

Education, especially boys’ education.

If you could go to three free workshops/creative events this year which ones would they be? What are they about?

Totally unrelated, but I’d love to go to a cupcake decorating course!

Maybe something on marketing and promotion

And I’d love to learn some pattern making

How do you balance your creative life with your family, life commitments?

A fabulous husband and 3 very understanding children! Also trying to do what I can when they’re all in bed helps.

What is your favourite creative screw-up?

I make yummy cakes, but I’m terrible at decorating them but still insist on churning one out for everyone’s birthday – despite their wonkiness! Ah well, at least they taste good!

Kitchen table or studio?

Kitchen table (and dining room table!)

Do you have a wish list? Can you tell us what’s on it?

This year I’d love to

- focus on getting my market displays looking really professional

- sort out my sewing room so we can eat off the dining room table again!

- spend loads of time having fun with my gorgeous family
