More Woolies

A couple months ago I shared this sweater I knit for my older daughter, Boudicca. Having finished that one, I had to of course whip up a sweater for my younger daughter, Nyssa. She's a pink kinda girl, so she got this cute little boatneck.

The pattern is called Big Sister Sweater from the book The Expectant Knitter, which I've got out of the library right now since I am an expectant knitter (expecting baby number 3 in early October). Nyssa wanted a little extra excitement and asked for a picture of a squirrel on the jersey. Flipping through my vintage patterns, looking for a chart for a squirrel (not too hopefully) I came across a cute owl design which Nyssa agreed would be suitable.

I love the way it turned out. The yarn for the owl is Treliske organic merino in dark brown and donkey. The main body of the sweater is Skeinz Organic in what I believe was a test colour that was a one off.

Speaking of Skeinz... for the past 2 years they've sponsored a knitting retreat here in Napier called Knit August Nights. They've just opened registration for their third go - KAN2012 - and you should definitely check it out. Scheduled are some wonderful looking classes, as well as a wool factory tour, a dinner, markets, and plenty of knit-together time.
