Who is Pineapple Designs?
I’m Kat mum to Adam 4yrs and Lucy 2yrs…I’m a stay at home mum who is crafty. It all started January 2011 when I decided that I would handmake all my gifts for the year and then I started getting orders from friends and family. Pineapple Designs began its journey in March 2011.
What’s your “handmade groove ?”
I love to sew funky and bright children’s clothes, bibs, pencils cases and giftware
What’s on your bedside table right now? (hey, no tidying up or censoring)
2 books which have been there for almost 2 years (sizzling 16 & 9thJudgement) baby monitor, lip balm - mango flavor, pen, custom orders notebook and a couple of bills
Who are your creative role models? What music, books, images, poetry spark your creative fire?
I Love Patty Young fabrics, they are so bright and vibrant. Also my mum she taught me how to sew and is always there when I have questions. I love searching the internet for new fabric and ideas.
What could you talk late into the night about with like minded people?
Ohh lots of things cooking, sewing, fabric, crafts, travel
If you could go to three free workshops/creative events this year which ones would they be? What are they about?
Cake decorating – I did a cupcake decorating class last year with Tamara Jane and really enjoyed it
Italian cooking
Cheese making… ohh my 3 are all about food, maybe crocheting so it doesn’t look like I only think of food - lol
How do you balance your creative life with your family, life commitments?
I have a 2 kiddies aged 4yrs and 2yrs so I get to sew when they go to bed at night my sewing time is 7:30pm-10pm or if hubby takes them out in the weekend.
I have some great friends that help me out during the week when I’m preparing for a market and look after my youngest so I can sew in the morning when my son is at kindy.
I also belong to a Stitch n Bitch group which meets every Tuesday night…I like to use this time to make things for my kids and me. Or sometimes I just relax and chat and do no crafting ;-)
What is your favourite creative screw-up?
Its not very creative – but stupid….I put the sewing machine needle thru my fingernail, and the needle snapped into 3 pieces.
Late night visit to A & E to get it removed and a tetanus injection
Kitchen table or studio?
Neither – my sewing table is set up in my bedroom
Do you have a wish list? Can you tell us what’s on it?
4 thread overlocker (only have a 3 thread)
To move out of the bedroom and have a studio with a big cutting table
Better storage for all my fabric
Oh and so its not all about sewing I would love a new pair of jeans
